While this timesheet generator is not on the app — it's a free resource we built for the IHSS community.

IHSS and WPCS have separate timesheets and separate monthly hours. However, weekly limits apply to your combined total hours across both programs. The ESP already shows your combined weekly total — enter that number in the Previously Claimed Hours section.

Each recipient will have their own monthly hours and limits section below.
1 recipient: You may work up to 66 hours per week (if the recipient has enough authorized hours). Daily max is 12 hours.
Travel time between recipients is paid separately and does not count toward your 66-hour weekly limit. Travel time is capped at 7 hours per week.

Where to find the Workweek Total: Log in to ESP (etimesheets.ihss.ca.gov) → open your timesheet → scroll to the bottom of each workweek block. You will see "Workweek Total" — IHSS already shows your combined total across all recipients for that week, so just enter the number ESP shows. Enter 0 if you haven't worked those weeks yet.
Limits & Caps
IHSS + WPCS combined: Weekly limits apply to your total hours across both programs. Max 283 hrs/month combined. WPCS has a strict 12-hour daily max.
Have an approved exemption (live-in family care, extraordinary circumstances)? Enter your approved weekly cap — exemptions are typically 90 hrs/week. Exemptions must be pre-approved and are not automatic.
Travel Time (multiple recipients only)
Travel time this period
Travel time between recipients is paid at your regular rate and does not count toward your 66h weekly limit. Capped at 7 hours per week. Log it on the daily timesheet entry screen in ESP. You may need to submit form SOC 2255 first if you haven't already.
Work Days
Select the days you work. The tool will automatically fill each week to your weekly cap, spread evenly across your selected days. Fewer days = more hours per day but same weekly total.
What is IHSS Sick Leave?
As an IHSS provider, you earn paid sick leave — but many providers don't know they have it or don't know how to claim it. If you were sick and unable to work, you may be eligible to claim paid sick hours for those days. This section helps you understand if you qualify and how to submit your claim.

Paid sick leave
IHSS providers earn paid sick leave hours that can be claimed each fiscal year
📅
Hours expire June 30
Unused sick hours reset every July 1 — if you had sick days this year, claim them before they expire
✅
Separate from your timesheet
Sick leave does not count toward your weekly or monthly work hour limits
Up to 40 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) at your regular hourly rate. No overtime. Submitted through ESP under Time Entry → Sick Leave Claim or paper form SOC 2302.
Sick Leave Eligibility
Before you can claim sick leave, two requirements must be met. Check below to see where you stand.
You need 100 hours worked to start accruing sick leave
You need 200 additional hours OR 60 calendar days before you can claim
Sick Leave Balance
Max 40 hours per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Check your balance in ESP under Time Entry → Sick Leave Claim.
Submit a Sick Leave Claim
Sick leave is submitted separately from your regular timesheet. Go to ESP → Time Entry → Sick Leave Claim. Select the pay period, then the recipient you were unable to work for. A separate check will be issued.
Important rules: Minimum 1 hour per absence. Minutes can only be 00 or 30. Sick leave expires June 30 each year — unused hours do not carry over. You must submit by June 30 or lose them. Submit via ESP or paper form SOC 2302.
County Pay Rate (for earnings estimate)
Sick leave is paid at your regular hourly rate. No overtime.
Clock-In / Clock-Out Times
Your check-in/out times are already saved in ESP — when you use the EVV app, your start and end times auto-populate on your timesheet. But you still need to calculate and enter the total hours worked for each day. Enter your times here and this tool calculates them for you automatically.
Earnings Estimate (optional)
